The Oasis Church
Brief History
The Oasis Church began as one small group of people in 1995. For several years a number had been attending Kings Church in Brentwood, yet living in the Chelmsford area. In 1995 the leaders of King’s Church began the process of starting a new Church in Chelmsford. In September of that year Chris and Rachel Vincent moved from Bedford to Chelmsford to lead the new church. Chris Vincent had been on the full-time staff of Brickhill Baptist Church, Bedford. The Oasis Church was launched on Easter morning 1996 and since that time has grown to its current size of about 170 committed members (adults).
Our mission statement is as follows:
“We want to be a family, who in knowing the life-giving love of God, are becoming along with those who do not know Jesus, mature functioning disciples.”
Oasis Church, Chelmsford relates to Newfrontiers. Newfrontiers is overseen by Terry Virgo, based in Brighton, UK and is an international family of churches, seeking to equip, envision and get local churches to see that we will accomplish far more if we work together in a fashion that the first, New Testament Church did.
