What is G-Zone?

G-Zone is a club for children from all backgrounds between the ages of 5 and 10. A programme of very fast-moving and front-led activities takes place within a safe environment. It is free of charge. Children can expect:

  • fun and exciting programme

  • games

  • competitions

  • teaching

  • drama

  • loud music

  • video

This all happens within the context of pre-determined boundaries where children are encouraged and supported, yet know the consequences of their behaviour. Each week, through a clear structured programme, the children will learn one specific value or principle, such as ‘its good to say sorry’.

A brief history of G-Zone

G-Zone was launched at Lawford Mead Junior School in August 2002 with a three-morning holiday club. Over the three mornings, fifty children attended.

In the first 12 months we have had 200 children attend at one time or another. We currently have a regular attendance of approximately 50 children, evidence in itself to the need, the excitement, and willingness of parents to bring their children to such a thrilling club.

The head teacher of the school in which we meet said that:

‘The club provides a welcoming, friendly safe place for the children to go to. The activities are highly child centred, well organised and greatly enjoyed by all who attend. The central message of the Christian faith is overt but not oppressive. The club is highly popular with the children and with my parents’.
